Some may feel that they are locked inside a vacuum of never ending emotions. The gentle spirit of joy and peace eludes them because their lives are being tossed to and fro by the fierce winds of hurt and anger! If you are one that is caught in this vicious cycle of emotions, be still and know that Jesus has an answer for you.

Jesus has given us the answer to the dilemma- a  spirit of forgiveness. Jesus walked this earth in the spirit of forgiveness. His purpose in coming was to forgive sins.  Jesus asks us to forgive in the same manner that He forgave our life time of offenses against God and against mankind.

A lot of times we think that we have to feel like forgiving someone before we will offer forgiveness. This just is not true. Instead we must choose to forgive. We learn this great truth as we look to the life of Jesus. He came to earth to become flesh so that He could become the one-time sacrifice for all sin so that those who will accept Him could be forgiven. Quite clearly Jesus chose to come to earth to forgive sin.

God commands us to take responsibility for our actions and choose to follow the example that Christ has set before us.

~Read Ephesians 4:32..
As you read this verse, pay close attention to how this verse begins ("And be ye..."). From these first few words, we clearly see that to forgive is a choice that God's people can make because HE, the spirit of Forgiveness, lives within us.

~Read Colossians 3:13...
Now look at the ending words of this verse ("so also do ye")Once again, we are commanded to forgive.  Because of this command, we once again see that forgiveness is a choice that we can make.

The American College Dictionary defines the word choose:  "to prefer and decide (to do something)."  If there are one or more individuals whom you need to forgive, decide to do that today.  Also, know and understand that when we forgive, we no longer hold the person accountable to us; thus freeing us from the onslaught of bitter and angry emotions that bring torment to the soul.
