He sent the word and healed them, and delivered
them from their destructions" (Psalms 107:20).

If we knew no sin, we would know no sickness nor would we know destruction, hurt, or fear. There would be no spiritual or physical death either. Unfortunately sin has entered into the hearts of all people and all of us, at one time or another, have been touched by the hurt that sin brings. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned" (Romans 5:12). Sin entered the heart of man and became mankind's destruction.

We hurt ourselves by indulging in the appetites of our flesh. The Word tells us that the mind or heart that is set on satisfying every desire of the flesh will bring destruction and death (Romans 8:6). "For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death" (Romans 7:5). Sin always takes its captive to destruction. To live in sin satisfying the desires of our flesh is to live an endangered life.

Our loving Creator and God knew the horrible consequences of sin. So, He sent His Word to heal us, to deliver us from our destructions. "He sent the word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction" (Psalms 107:20 NASV). When Christ walked this earth, He healed diseases, cast out demons, gave sight to the blind, and all kinds of physical, emotional, and mental conditions were healed by faith in His Word. He also forgave sins and restored those who came to Him in faith.

Today, if we listen to the word of God and obey, our life will change from one that is marked by despair and hurt to one that becomes peaceful and free.  The Word will cause us to be secure instead of insecure. It will help us to become joyful, kind, considerate, loving, and bring satisfaction that nothing else can match.

By God's Word we are brought to repentance, are sanctified, and made whole. He delivers us from our destructions! Through faith, God continues to deliver us daily.

God has given us His written Word that we may come and take of Christ and be healed of fear, depression, despair, sickness, heartache, loneliness, guilt, shame, sin, etc. God's Word is all power and authority. It is an instrument sent forth to do His bidding.

God's Word is a rod of correction to drive out our foolishness and a staff of protection and guidance to insure our safety, security, and well-being. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" John 1:14.

Our response to God is to receive His Word in faith. The first step of faith is action! The Word will heal our mind, heart, and soul.

Feast upon Jesus, the word made flesh, and be made whole.

"For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody" (Isaiah 51:3).

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" (Isaiah 43:2).
