The other night I received news that made me very sad. I told the Lord that I did not understand why this was happening. I ask Him to give me peace and calm my troubled soul. Since I have been praying for this situation for a long time, I felt as though my prayers were not going to be answered in the way that I expected. For a long time I had been praying God's will for this situation and simply could not understand why this hurt had raised its ugly head once again. So I begin to pray and make graphics. (Some times, when I am sad, I will make graphics and I pray.)

While I was making a desktop wallpaper, I ask Abba, Father, what scripture He would like for me to use on the wallpaper. In a moment or so, the Holy Spirit brought Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 to my attention. Little did I know that God was in the process of answering my prayer and about to bring much comfort to my heart.

I began typing the scripture onto the graphic. As I typed the words, "a time to every purpose under heaven" jumped out at me. Peace entered into my heart as I accepted the fact that God has a purpose for everything that touches our lives; and when I prayed, Your will be done Father, I felt even more peace. Sadness had been replaced with peace and joy. Below are the truths that had made my heart happy again.

- All things that pertain to our lives hold a divine purpose which will ultimately bring our life to the expected end that God desires for us.

- God's knows exactly what is best for each individual even if one does not receive the answer to prayer that he/she hoped for. God has our best interest in His heart even when we are made sad by someone else's decision. He allows joy and sorrow in our lives for His divine purposes to be obtained.

- We are to wait patiently as God softens and prepares the heart of the ones we pray for. He is at work in the life of the one we are praying for, bringing about circumstances to fit His will for that person and for us.

- That we need to give up our desires and let Him fill us with His desire for all of our situations and circumstances. Hurting or not we need to pray, "Father, not my will, but Yours be done." Then we need to accept the truth that all will be well because God is in control.

- Joy, peace, and goodness comes to the one whose trust is in the Lord.

- We are not to be tossed back and forth by emotions and feelings. Instead we are to walk by faith continually expecting that God will do what is best for us.

- Be satisfied and content with all that God has planned for our lives for His ways are always for our good.

To think about:
Compare Jeremiah 29:11 to Ecclesiastes 3:1. Both of these verses speak of God's plan for our life.

How do these verses re-enforce that God has a purpose for you life?

Think of a time when you experienced sorrow from a situation and later found that the end result of that situation came out for your good

Write or say a prayer thanking God that His plans for you are good even when they involve some hurt.
